Vijay Shankar remains a key figure in Indian cricket, poised to make significant contributions in all formats of the game. With his all-round abilities and unwavering dedication, he is set to leave a lasting impact on the cricketing landscape for years to come.

Vijay Shankar, born on January 26, 1991, in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu, is a cricketer renowned for his versatility as an all-rounder. With a solid right-hand batting technique and effective right-arm medium-pace bowling, Shankar has made significant contributions to both domestic and international cricket.

Shankar’s journey to cricketing stardom began in his teenage years when he honed his skills on his terrace, practicing with his father and brother Ajay, who also played cricket at a lower division in Tamil Nadu. Initially, he bowled off-spin but later transitioned to medium-pace to enhance his prospects of breaking into the Tamil Nadu team.

His breakthrough came during the 2014-15 Ranji Trophy season when he showcased his batting prowess with remarkable scores, including centuries in the knockouts. These performances earned him a call-up to the India A squad, where he made an immediate impact with an unbeaten half-century against Australia A.

In the Indian Premier League (IPL), Shankar has represented various franchises such as Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Daredevils, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Gujarat Titans, exhibiting his ability to thrive in the fast-paced T20 format.

Internationally, Shankar made his debut for the Indian team in ODIs against Australia in January 2019. Known for his composure under pressure and the ability to play crucial innings down the order, he has played vital roles for the national team in both batting and bowling departments.

In addition to his batting exploits, Shankar has proven to be a handy bowler, capable of picking up crucial wickets with his medium-pace deliveries. His performances in limited-overs cricket have earned him recognition as a valuable asset to the Indian team’s balance.

As he continues to ply his trade in domestic cricket for Tamil Nadu and various franchise leagues around the world, Vijay Shankar remains a key figure in Indian cricket, poised to make significant contributions in all formats of the game. With his all-round abilities and unwavering dedication, he is set to leave a lasting impact on the cricketing landscape for years to come.
